Professor, associate professor and faculty researcher are job titles. NIW asks a different question: what specific endeavor will the applicant advance, why does that endeavor have national importance, and why is the professor well positioned to advance it? Tenure and university prestige may provide context, but neither automatically establishes a National Interest Waiver.
