Common Mistake
Tenure Does Not Prove International Recognition
Incomplete
“She is a tenured professor at a respected university.”
The position may satisfy an employment requirement, but the petition must separately establish the professor’s international recognition as outstanding.
Stronger
Separate the employment evidence from the recognition evidence.
Document the qualifying position and then independently develop the publications, judging, contributions, awards, coverage and other evidence supporting international recognition.

For the teaching route, the offered position generally must be tenured or tenure track. A qualifying permanent research position uses a different employment structure.
Does being an associate or full professor automatically qualify?
No. Academic rank does not replace the international recognition requirement.

Yes, qualifying teaching and research experience in the academic field may be used.
Can a professor self petition for EB1B?
